GlossaryExclusion

Exclusion

A specific event or condition the policy will not pay out for.

Definition

Exclusions narrow the cover. Some are universal across NZ life policies (war, self-inflicted injury during the suicide exclusion period). Others are policyholder-specific from underwriting (e.g. excluded mental-health claims, excluded back conditions). Always read the schedule attached to your policy issue letter — that is where your personal exclusions sit.
